AI industry vet Kathleen Grace has been named Lionsgate\u2018s first Chief AI Officer.<\/p>\n
In the new position, Grace will work closely with Lionsgate Vice Chairman Michael Burns and other senior leaders across the studio to lead its AI strategy and execution, and provide tools to serve the creative vision of its filmmakers, create opportunities for new efficiencies in its production, marketing, distribution and administrative operations, and spearhead initiatives to protect the IP of the studio and its talent partners.<\/p>\n
Grace will report to Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer and will be part of the studio\u2019s senior decision-making team.<\/p>\n
In September 2024, Lionsgate announced that it was teaming with AI research company Runway to train a proprietary AI model to serve its filmmakers.<\/p>\n

Grace previously served as Chief Strategy Officer at AI company Vermillio, the first AI platform built to license and protect IP and likeness.<\/p>\n

As Vermillio\u2019s Chief Strategy Officer, Grace ensured that content owners and talent were able to track, authenticate, and be compensated for the use of their work in AI models. She previously headed New Form, a digital studio backed by Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and Discovery Communications, where she developed more than 40 pilots and sold nearly 25 series to networks and platforms including TBS, go90, Freeform, Quibi and Refinery29. She also spearheaded YouTube\u2019s global Spaces initiative, launching creator studios in Los Angeles, New York, London, and Tokyo. Grace has creator credits on projects such as The Burg, Vuguru\u2019s The All for Notes and Facebook Watch\u2019s 365 Days of Love with Sof\u00eda Vergara.<\/p>\n
