Multiple reports confirm that Kotb will remain in the anchor chair alongside Craig Melvin for the time being. The journalist returned to the NBC morning show on February 6 to fill in for Savannah Guthrie amid her mom\u2019s abduction.<\/p>\n
Kotb had made sporadic appearances on the Today show since her departure in January 2025. She had co-hosted the morning show with Savannah Guthrie since 2018.<\/p>\n
In September 2024, Kotb announced she was leaving the Today show at the beginning of 2025.<\/p>\n

We still believe that she can come home, hope against hope, as my sister says, \u2018We are blowing on the embers of hope.\u2019 We also know that she may be lost. She may already be gone,\u201d Savannah Guthrie said in the video posted on Tuesday. \u201cShe may have already gone home to the Lord that she loves and is dancing in heaven with her mom and her dad and with her beloved brother Pierce and with our daddy.
